why do people ask questions to Yahoo Answers instead of googling the question?
Especially for trivia matters and factual things…. why do people want the answers from real people?
One overlooked reason is that most articles found on google come directly from opinionated textbooks and questionable sources rather than experience. Life stories here come from anonymous people who are courageous/eager enough to share them, sometimes I admit too explicitly for my taste.
Also, on here, it is far more obvious what answers are based on opinion rather than well-researched information. Just think of all the biased articles you find on google, all trying to pass as absolute truth.
Many answers found on google are cluttered with complex terms/concepts whereas on yahoo!answers they are mainly in layman’s terms. Other obvious reasons are that they want someone else to do the work for them, get feedback on their work, avoid using copyrighted material in their essays, express their thoughts/ideas, listen to different opinions/arguments, establish human interaction, seek comfort in people’s caring enough to answer, and instigate conflict. Too detailed? I apologize.
Think about it: what other website allows such an open forum that makes a real effort to eliminate cyber wars yet simultaneously encourages people to share vastly different opinions?
@iRock: good answer mate 😀
