More erosion at the present (2016-2017) is occurring further east, down drift, in the Barton Golf Course and Hordle Cliff area, as a result of the Barton Sea Defences (the so-called “Terminal Groyne Syndrome”) which commonly occurs at the end of sea defences holding back natural shingle.
