The rise in paylines follows an increase in appropriations with NIDDK receiving $2.11 billion in FY 2020, a 4.1% increase over its FY 2019 appropriation levels. The increase is the result of a sustained advocacy effort in support of NIDDK funding by the American Society of Nephrology and the broader kidney community.

NIDDK has adopted a more stringent funding practice for awarding program project (P01) grants, High Impact, Interdisciplinary Science in NIDDK Research Areas (RC2), and other investigator-initiated grant applications with budgets of $500,000 or more requested direct costs in any one year.

Competing awards are adjusted to achieve a 4-year average duration for research project grants.
Does NINDS publish a payline for K99/R00?
Dear Writedit, This is an excellent resource. I recently applied for a K99 w/NINDS (cycle 3). I know NINDS doesn’t publish a payline for traditional K99/R00 mechanism and I have checked the archived posts as well to see if there was any info on this, but din’t see any K99 applicants from NINDS.
Can K paylines be affected by other (non-K) study sections?
I didn’t realize that K paylines can be affected by the scores of applications reviewed in other (non-K) study sections and was wondering if that’s typical.
