Are Barrow tanks open for fishing?
There is no boat fishing at the Barrow tanks but the bank fishing is extensive and very accessible. The shoreline is a great meeting place for the local anglers and as such there is a lively community of anglers.

Can you fish in Cheddar Reservoir?
Fishing must be by fair rod and line only. Fishing is from Dawn to Dusk (STRICTLY NO NIGHT FISHING). Permits are not transferable and must be obtained before an angler enters the reservoir enclosure with fishing tackle. All fish must be returned to the water.
Can you fly fish a lake?
The short answer – yes. You can fly fish anywhere you’d use traditional angling techniques, including ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water. Fly fishing a pond or lake is different than fly fishing a river but there are many similar techniques and equipment.

Are you allowed to swim in Cheddar reservoir?
The reservoir is used for drinking water and is unsafe to swim in. It has hidden machinery that is designed to suck water in, therefore people are not allowed to swim in it. Bristol Water says the decision was made to ensure nobody loses their life.
Can you walk around Barrow Gurney reservoir?
On the right-hand side there is a stile just after the metal gate. Exit here to get onto the A38. From here, you can walk all the way back up Hobbs Lane to retrace your steps back to Barrow Gurney. Or you could turn left at the next public footpath sign and follow the paths around the southern side of the reservoirs.
Can I walk around Barrow tanks?
Although these reservoirs are a lot smaller compared to Blagdon Lake and Chew Valley Lake, with the biggest of the three being around 60 acres and the smallest under 30 acres, you can still do a quaint walk passing all three of the tanks and extend your walk into Barrow Gurney village.
