Behind the wheel, the S13 has a rawer and more visceral feel. The S14 feels a little more “grown-up” in stock trim. But as each car is modified, the character and feel will change dramatically. Remember that the 240sx was more of a “tourer” than an outright sports car.
Can you turbo a ka24e?
Turbocharging the KA24DE can produce great numbers if the tuning is right. It’s easy to attain over 200rwhp with a basic turbo kit like the kind sold on ebay. Advanced tuning and internal engine modification has produced KA24 240SX’s with 500+ horsepower.
Can you put a KA24DE head on a ka24e block?
Registered. It can be done, but its not going to be just a simple head swap. Physically the head will bolt onto the block, but the timing cover won’t align, compression is way to high for pump gas on the stock tune, and piston to valve clearance will have to be worked out.

What is the Nissan KA24DE engine?
You’ve probably heard that it came from the Nissan Hardbody truck. The KA24 was designed to replace the extremely outdated Nissan Z engine. Although this engine doesn’t use any innovative technology, it does have a cult following like other Nissan engines. In this short article, we’re going to cover everything you need to know about the KA24DE.
Does the Nissan KA24 have a balance shaft?
Even with its relatively large displacement, the KA24 did not implement balance shafts. Later versions of this engine used a DOHC design with four valves per cylinder which increased power and efficiency. Oddly enough, Nissan decided to use a shim-over-bucket configuration for the valve train instead of rocker arms.
How much power can a stock KA24 hold?
Unfortunately, the stock bottom-end isn’t strong and can only hold up to about 350whp. If you’re looking to go for big power, you’ll need a forged rotating assembly. If you end up dumping that much money into a KA24, you might as well swap in a 1JZ/2JZ or RB engine which will make way more power while also being more reliable.
