How do you sharpen Faber-Castell pencils?
Unlike other pencils on the market, Faber-Castell PITT Pastel Pencils are sharpened with a sharpening knife or a hand held sharpener. We never suggest using an electric sharpener for any of our pencils.
Can pencil sharpener blades be sharpened?
Because sharpener blades are tiny, I suggest using a tweezer or, better yet, a needle-nosed plier to hold the blade. Slide the sharp end of the blade across the sharpening stone at a 20-degree angle. A few slides should be enough to sharpen the blade.
Can you sharpen charcoal pencils with a pencil sharpener?
Now you have to use a pencil sharpener. To sharpen the pencil in a good way you have to use the big whole of the pencil sharpener. With one hand you hold the sharpener and with the other hand the charcoal pencil very soft. Now you have to start very soft and carefully.
How do you sharpen a triangle pencil?
No problem at all. It can be sharpened with a standard pencil sharpener as long as it has the right size “hole” in the sharpener, such as the “Berol” brand sharpener. These are triangular, which helps with the grip but they are no problem otherwise.
Why do my pencils keep breaking when I sharpen them?
The fact is, no matter how carefully you sharpen the pencils, the lead inside the colored pencils can still break. If they are dropped on hard surfaces or banged around, the lead inside the pencil may weaken and break when it is sharpened. So take good care of your colored pencils – don’t drop them!
What is the best surface for Polychromos pencils?
For detailed artist drawings, we recommend using a smooth paper, such as Bristol board, Strathmore toned pads, Hot Press Watercolour Paper or textured Pastelmat. Polychromos Pencils adhere to many rough surfaces too, such as wood, stone, leather and metal.
