Is there a machine that can flatten a plate like a PLEK?
It has only been relatively recent that machines could come close to the hand of a skilled machinist in flattening plates or surfacing telescope mirrors. Even then, the technology of those million dollar machines far surpass that of the PLEK machine. The best machine shops will still have the most critical surfaces trued up by hand after machining.
