What are Military Police called?
These are uniformed law enforcement officers who are called DOD (Department of Defense) police.
What is Army Military Police?
As a Military Police, you’ll protect peoples’ lives and property on Army installations by enforcing military laws and regulations. You’ll also control traffic, prevent crime, and respond to all emergencies. You’ll conduct force protection, anti-terrorism, area security, and police intelligence operations.
What are the RMP ranks?
The RMP is divided into units called Provost Companies, subdivided into platoons, and sometimes grouped into regiments. Platoons are commanded by a Second Lieutenant, or Lieutenant with a Staff Sergeant as the Platoons Second-in-Command (2ic). They are further divided into sections under the command of Sergeants.
What powers do the RMP have?
Members of the Regimental Provost can be identified by the brassards they wear, which carry the letters “RP”. They have no power of arrest over service personnel nor are they a police organisation per se. Their primary purpose is to enforce breaches of service discipline at a local unit level.
