What fluid is compatible with dexron VI?
Valvoline MaxLife ATF transmission fluid is 100 percent compatible with the DEXRON VI for mixing or flushing a system.
What replaced DEXRON?
Dexron VI
Dexron VI replaced Dexron II and III, and can be used in General Motors domestically built or import transmissions that specified Dexron II or Dexron III. Dexron VI is a low viscosity transmission fluid and should also be used with the full synthetic low viscosity transmission fluid.
When did GM switch to dexron VI?
2006
A: GM introduced DEXRON-VI in April 2005 as the next generation factory fill transmission fluid for 2006 model-year trucks and cars equipped with Hydra-Matic transmissions.
Is dexron VI compatible with DEXRON?
DEXRON-VI is also compatible with any former version of DEXRON for use in automatic transmissions.
Is Dexron VI full synthetic?
DEXRON VI/MERCON LV (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. Valvoline Dexron VI/Mercon LV ATF is the full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid that has been uniquely engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of the General Motors Dexron VI specification and is officially licensed and approved by GM.
Can I use Mercon V instead of Dexron VI?
This fluid technology is designed to replace and supersede previous generation specifications from GM and Ford such as DEXRON III and MERCON/ MERCON V. General Motors officially states that DEXRON®-VI approved fluids are backwards compatible with and should replace all previous generation DEXRON fluids in service.
Is dexron vi full synthetic?
Is Dex Merc the same as dexron VI?
Dex/Merc would be fine. Dexron VI is listed by GM as backward compatible, but is thinner than original Dexron III.
Is dexron VI same as DEXRON HP?
And Dexron HP was also backwards compatible with DEXRON VI. But I believe the LV HP is has now replaced the regular HP. Dexron fluids have typically been backwards compatible. Meaning if your vehicle spec’d Dexron III, you could use Dexron VI.
When did GM start using Dexron VI transmission fluid?
In 2005, Ford released the Mercon Low Viscosity (LV) fluid and GM released the Dexron VI specification. The fluid specification for Dexron-VI (J) was first used as the GM factory-fill automatic transmission fluid for the model year 2006.
When to switch from tes-295 to Dexron VI?
The TES-295 approved fluids are 3x the interval at 150k miles. I plan on switching to TranSynd after my first 50k miles with my truck. For those that like the Dexron VI fluid for other vehicles or because you like to service your Allison often. Then Dexron VI is one of the best, but second to TES-295 fluids like TranSynd
Why is Dexron II (d) not used anymore?
The revised corrosion and rust inhibitors made the new fluid hygroscopic, which, while it was not a major problem in automatic transmissions, made Dexron II (D) unsuitable for other hydraulic systems in which it was commonly used.
Can I use Dexron-VI fluid on any vehicle type?
Yes, DEXRON-VI fluid can be used on any vehicle type that calls for DEXRON transmission fluid. Does my transmission fluid need to be changed as regularly as my oil? No, transmission fluid is designed to last much longer than most engine oils.
