What is enhanced halt?

What is enhanced halt?

According to the available documentation, Enhanced Halt State (C1E) is an operating mode of a physical processor with low power consumption, which is activated when both logical processors go to sleep (the HLT or MWAIT instruction) if this technology is enabled in BIOS.

What is CIE support?

Answer. “C1E Support” is a power saving function for CPU, you have to enable “C-state” first to be able to see this setting in BIOS.

What is C1E state?

C1E is a hardware feature that allows CPU to enter idle state (x12 mult) while it’s not loaded. Some kind of power management feature. There’s also EIST that performs more smart. EIST is not hardware only system, it’s controlled by OS and also can refuse vcore voltage while idle.

What is AMD Cie support?

C1E is a power management state that allows the processor to reduce power beyond just the cores. With C1E, the processor power can be reduced by lowering the memory controller clock speed and halting the HyperTransport™ technology links.

What does C1E do on Throttlestop?

C1E – This should be kept on anytime you are mobile or do not need the absolute minimum in system latency (DAW work, etc.). Turning off this option should prevent the turbo boost from shutting down cores automatically. When off, clocks should stay near maximum and the CPU will use more power.

Should I enable C1e after overclocking?

Once someone has their overclocking settings all finished, do you recommend the C1E be re-enabled. withOUT having to enable turbo. No do not enable it, you will end up having random BSOD’s since the voltages will be wack.

Does overclocking a CPU with C1e and Eist affect idle voltage?

C1E will undervolt at idle, but that undervolting may give too little voltage for your now OCed chip. Also, if EIST is disabled, then your chip is still at full multi when idle and will probably need the voltage. As far as the throttling and shut-off that C2D’s do to save themselves when temps get to high, C1E and EIST should not have any effect.

What is the extreme overclocking forums?

Welcome Guest Visitor! Please Register, It’s Free and Fun To Participate! The EXTREME Overclocking Forums are a place for people to learn how to overclock and tweak their PC’s components like the CPU, memory (RAM), or video card in order to gain the maximum performance out of their system.

Should I Turn Off C1e?

It’s a matter of personal preference. I prefer to disable C1E because I want complete control over the maximum speed of the cpu as well as the voltages supplied to it. I also do not like the clocks bouncing around while I’m running benchmarks.
