What team did Sham 69 support?
The original Sham 69 line-up got together in 1975 in Hersham, Surrey. The name came from a piece of graffiti, spotted by Jimmy, a football reference which was supposed to read Walton and Hersham 69 celebrating the football team’s Athenian League title win in 1969.

Sham 69 are an English punk band that formed in Hersham in 1975. Although not as commercially successful as many of their contemporaries, albeit with a greater number of chart entries, Sham 69 has been a huge musical and lyrical influence on the Oi! and streetpunk genres.
Why did Sham 69 change their name to day 21?
The band was named after the last Sham 69 album and also to avoid confusion with the fans over the name Sham 69. Day 21 recorded an album titled 4:10am which was not released, although a single, “Having It Rock and Roll”, was released in 2008.
Why did Jimmy Pursey leave Sham 69?
NME reported that a statement released by Parsons included the message: “Sham 69 have left Jimmy Pursey on the eve of their 30th anniversary. The band had become increasingly fed up with Jimmy’s lack of interest in playing live and continually letting down both promoters and fans by pulling out of gigs at the last moment”.
