Can you use any gas with Primus stove?

Does Primus Power Gas expire?
If you’re talking about sealed butane-mix canisters, no, they won’t go bad. But if you’re talking about a jug of white gas, that’s another story. Once opened, white gas should generally be used within a few months.
Can you use MSR fuel with Primus stove?
The important element here is the fuel itself, which is a butane/isobutane blend. All of these stoves on the market using the new “standard” threaded valve use that fuel blend. Any fuel can from MSR, Jetboil, Snowpeak, Primus, Optimus, etc will work just fine.

What is in white gas?
Historically called white gas, it is a liquid petroleum fuel (100% light hydrotreated distillate), composed of cyclohexane, nonane, octane, heptane, and pentane. White gas was originally simply additive-free gasoline. This formulation is now rarely found.
How long does white gas stay good?
White gas can last for a very long time when stored properly. Some people had white gas last as much as 30 years. However, Coleman recommends a shelf life of 5-7 years unopened and 2 years opened. Always store your white gas in a proper container and inspect for leaks and rust.
Can MSR Pocket Rockets use propane?
Technically yes, as long as it is a canister that’s certified to EN 417 with an 80% isobutane / 20% propane mix. But we don’t recommend it. MSR recommends only using MSR IsoPro™ fuel with our stoves—because our stoves are specifically designed and tuned for it and thus will perform better.
Can you use Jetboil fuel with MSR Windburner?
I’ve used both MSR and Jetboil canisters with my Windburner. Both worked fine. I run the Jetboil fuel on mine and have never had any issues in any temperatures.
